Here I have attached some of the collateral pieces I have created throughout my college career.
Safety University
As required for my communication capstone course, I put together a community event along with three other students who were also in the class. In an effort to have a positive impact on the community, we partnered with the non-profit organization Child and Family Enrichment Services in Mount Pleasant, MI. The event we held was called Safety University.
The core purpose of CAFE is to support the healthy development of children and families along with creating a community where all children are protected and parents are supported. Safety University provided two programs that focused on protecting children.
International Student's Night
As a tourism student representing the Event Management and Hospitality minors at Central Michigan University I assisted in hosting an “International Students Night”.
The event was a culmination of 14 weeks of content specific to culture shock, assimilation, acculturation, globalization, cultural diversity, and ethnocentrism. The event broke down barriers, encouraged unity within the commercial recreation and hospitality industry, and allowed students, such as myself, to make new friends on campus.
Festival de Cannes
Central Michigan University in partnership with The American Pavilion offered me an International Field Experience in Cannes, France in May 2012.
The Festival de Cannes has celebrated the cinema for over 60 years and takes place in the French coastal city of Cannes each May. Along with 12 other students and Lorie Tuma (faculty advisor), I traveled to south France and participated in a unique work-experience opportunity that offered many networking opportunities and practical experience.
The Cannes Event Management Field Experience Program provided me with an opportunity to expand my global perspective and participate in an international cinema and media event. As an event management student, the opportunity to work and learn in that environment was an amazing experience!
